President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday inaugurated 16 water and wastewater management projects worth 170 trillion rials (about $340 million) in the capital Tehran, IRNA reported.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials including Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian. The inaugurated projects include three major water treatment projects and five drinking water transmission projects.
Also, on the sidelines of the mentioned ceremony, 14 contracts with a total value of 190 trillion rials (about $380 million) were signed with the country’s private companies to improve the country’s wastewater infrastructure. The mentioned contracts are signed to develop wastewater infrastructure in seven different provinces namely, Sistan-Baluchistan, Qom, East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Markazi, Semnan and Fars.
Back in March, the managing director of the Water and Sewerage Department of Tehran Province said wastewater projects worth 120 trillion rials (about $240 million) were going to go operational in the capital soon. According to Abasali Moserzadeh, the projects included a monitoring center for buildings control, a wastewater monitoring and control center, the construction of the largest sewage relief post building in the capital, the largest and third biomass power plant in Tehran.
