Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh rejected the notion that Iran’s cooperation with Russian and China may be impacted by the next US administration’s probable decision to rejoin the 2015 nuclear deal.
“Iran’s foreign policy does not change according to daily developments,” he stressed.
Describing China and Russia as the main parties cooperating with Iran under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Khatibzadeh said, “Our relations with China have reached a strategic level, and the 25-year (cooperation) document is a testimony to it.”
He said Iran maintained cooperation with the Chinese officials after the US and Europe “imposed sanctions on themselves” regarding the JCPOA.
The spokesman also emphasized that Iran’s relations with Russia are “in the best conditions” in various arenas.
In November, the spokesperson for the Iranian government reminded the administration of US president-elect Joe Biden that the first thing it needs to do to correct Washington’s wrong policies is unconditional commitment to the 2015 nuclear deal.
President of Iran Hassan Rouhani has also called on the next US administration to learn lessons from the futility of sanctions against the Iranian nation, abide by the law and resume honoring its commitments.
