TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran would “immediately” reverse its remedial measures as soon as the US resumes honoring the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)

In a Twitter post on Tuesday night, the top Iranian diplomat pointed to his recent interview with the CNN’s journalist Christiane Amanpour, saying he has made it clear that the one that withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and violated it was the US, as Iran has only taken “remedial measures”

“US should return to compliance. Iran will then immediately reverse remedial measures,” he added.

Zarif also noted that the European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, who is also the coordinator of the JCPOA Joint Commission, “can choreograph the moves in consultation with Iran and US.”

In December, the Iranian parliament approved a law, dubbed the Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions, which requires the government to scale back more obligations under the JCPOA

It also requires the AEOI to produce at least 120 kilograms of 20-percent enriched uranium annually and store it inside the country within two months after the adoption of the law

Tehran has expressed its readiness to reverse the suspension of its commitments only if the US returns to the nuclear deal and lifts all sanctions without any preconditions or if the European co-signatories manage to protect business ties with Iran against Washington’s sanctions as part of their contractual obligations
