Iran to expand electricity exchange with neighbors

Speaking in a meeting with Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov in Tehran on Monday, Mehrabian said Iran currently has electricity exchange with most of its neighbors and can develop its relations with these neighbors optimally in this field.

The official placed special emphasis on the development of the cooperation between Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan in the field of electricity exchange, Mehr News Agency reported.
He pointed out that competent Iranian companies are ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in implementing electrical projects, exporting electrical parts and equipment, constructing power equipment, and constructing an equipped production line for manufacturing electrical equipment.

Following expert-level talks between the presidents of the two countries, the two sides agreed to promote economic, political, cultural, and historical relations, he underlined.
The two countries have high potential to expand their relations in all fields, he said, adding that Iran and Uzbekistan can cooperate in constructing thermal- and hydroelectricity power plants and exporting technical and engineering services, etc. in line with developing bilateral ties.

The Uzbek minister of energy, for his part, said that Iran is among the top five countries in the region in the field of construction of power plants, adding that his country attaches great importance to enhancing its relations with Iran in all fields.
