Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Agency (IAEA), Kazem Gharib Abadi stressed that IAEA’s recent report shows that the agency continues to have full access in Iran.
“The recent report shows that the agency continues to have full access in Iran and despite reduction of Iran’s commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which is aimed at striking balance between rights and obligations of all sides, IAEA still can verify not only the fulfillment of the commitments but also cessation of parts of them,” Kazem Gharib Abadi told reporters in reaction to the recent report released by the Agency on 11 November 2019.
“Since the beginning and after Iran was informed by the IAEA of the questions about the specific location, Iran has agreed to enter into a positive and constructive engagement with the agency to clarify the situation and answer the relevant questions,” said Gharib Abadi, adding, “Iran showed utmost cooperation and clarification and provided the agency with necessary access”.
“The cooperation between Iran and IAEA, as it was also stressed by the agency officials many times, is still ongoing,” he noted. “So, any prejudice and premature assessment of the situation is politically motivated”.
The envoy went on to say that raising such questions in interactions between IAEA and its member states is a normal issue and shouldn’t be politically abused and exaggerated since the two sides are cooperation to resolve them.
