At this meeting, the Leader of the Revolution regarded the most important need of the Muslim World today as increased closeness and synergy among Islamic countries, stating: “Closeness and cooperation among Islamic countries will surely pave the ground for resolving the problems of our region; as a result, the Front of Arrogance, with the US at its top, is troubled by the cooperation and friendly relations among Islamic countries and the formation of an Islamic power.
He described the concern as the reason behind animosity of the US towards powerful Islamic countries and added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey are two powerful and dignified countries of the region and share the same motivations for the Muslim World; thus, political and economic relations between the two countries should expand.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the existing cooperation and good relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey since the coming into power of the movement that advocates Islam in Turkey, and stressed: “The commonalities should be reinforced as much as possible.”
Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the positions taken by Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the matters of Myanmar; then referring to the matter of Palestine, he reiterated: “The Palestinian cause is still very important and it should not be ignored even for a second.”
During this meeting, in which Mr. Jahangiri—the Vice President of Iran—was also in attendance, the Turkish President regarded the situation of the region as critical, and hoped that by cooperation between the Islamic countries, the problems of the region will be resolved.
Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarded lack of coherence and unity among Islamic countries as the reason behind the current situation and stated: “As a result of the behavior of the West towards independent Islamic countries, the situation has become extremely sensitive. For the same reason, solidarity and fraternity should expand, in particular, between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey.”
