Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the US will not be able to keep pursuing its anti-Iran policies in the long run. The president made the remarks on Sunday in a meeting with a number of university professors of economics, during which he emphasized the need to strengthen hope within the society to defeat the enemies in the psychological and economic war.
Pres. Rouhani: US Unable to Keep Implementing Anti-Iran Policies
“I am hopeful of a better future,” said Rouahni, adding that, “Without a doubt, all compassionate participants expressed their expert opinions for the Establishment, the country and the government, and these meetings should continue to be held.” “Despite its difficulties, this passage of time will be bygone, and with the precise planning that has been done, the United States will not be able to follow its anti-Iranian policies in the long run,” the Iranian president added. “During the entire five-year activities of [my] administration, I have had two business meetings with officials, managers and economic advisers weekly, and no decision has ever been made in this administration without consulting with experts,” highlighted Rouhani. He added, “We are not in critical situations, but the situation is not normal, and in making decisions and announcing positions and views, these conditions should be taken into account.” US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would no longer remain part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and promised to re-impose the highest level of economic sanctions against Iran. The sanctions reinstated on Iran on May 8 included boycott of Iran’s crude supplies and bans on transfer of its crude revenues. There is a 180 days interval before these sanctions come into effect. Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Wednesday that despite the pressures and sanctions imposed by the US to prevent the country’s oil exports, Tehran would continue its crude sales. “Despite all pressures by the Americans, Iran has its own customers and everything is moving ahead without any problem,” Iranian Legislator Behrouz Nemati quoted Jahangiri as saying in a closed-door session with the parliamentarians in Tehran. According to Nemati, the Iranian first vice-president also said that the country had exported over $26bln worth of non-oil products in the past 6 months.
