Iran-Azerbaijan ties cementing in all fields

Iranian President described relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan developing in all fields, and stressed the importance of further development of the relations.

Speaking with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Hassan Rouhani said, “The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are determined to further develop relations with Azerbaijan in all fields of mutual interest”.

“The Rasht-Astara Railway is an important step for the region, serving the interests of the two nations and we hope that its process beings as soon as possible,” he said.

The President also described relations between the two countries in dam and power plant construction, as well as energy very important and said, “Iran and Azerbaijan have always sought peace and stability in regional and international issues”.

On the significance of the tripartite summit of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia, Dr. Rouhani said, “There are various projects in the region that we can follow in trilateral and multilateral frameworks”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov also said, “There are no obstacles on the path of developing relations between the two countries”.

Referring to the joint Rasht-Astara Railway project, he said, “With the launch of this railway, Russia, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran will be linked to each other, and Iran will be connected to the Black Sea through Georgia”.

He also presented the official invitation of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to Dr. Rouhani for attending the next round of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, which is going to be held in Baku next year.
